Private Learning

A complete education program starts with private lessons and more, with coaching or the STEP Bridge Program.

Immersive Education

Our learners can benefit from learning with their peers. We always incorporate some form of hands-on in all in person classes.

Meet the instructor

Erin Backman

With over 11 years in the industry and over 15 years managing, I come equipped with strategies for all sizes of beauty businesses.

I grew up in the industry and after attending undergrad and graduate school, I thought I'd start working in the corporate world. I was in for a HUGE shock when I realized that I needed something creative and challenging - enter me attending hair school at night in 2013. I graduated shortly after and started working full-time in the salon in 2015 and haven't looked back!

My passion and talent for educating professionals still remains the force that keeps me challenged and happy in this industry. So you'll always find me educating my team in salon, or teaching classes at other salons. Our industry deserves education designed for our neurodivergent brains (trust me) and I hope to fill in that gap. And especially for those who are newly licensed and just starting out.

How does STEP Salon Education work?

There are three main ways to work with our education brand. 

  1. 1on1 Coaching w/ Erin - this is the most intense and personalized way to change your business. 
  2. In Person Classes - we offer a variety of in person education across the US to get hands-on or business education to shift your craft.
  3. Online Courses - we offer either full courses, like our STEP Bridge Program, or individual classes like "Tech Savvy Stylist" to help you grow in your career.

What is a business growth coach?

A business growth coach is someone who helps you get clarity about the direction of your business. We'll work together on making shifts in your business for sustained growth. 

Who is the STEP Bridge Program for?

The simple answer is all types of newly licensed cosmetologists. Whether you're located in California or in Connecticut, we will cover a variety of business and skill based classes to get you prepared for success. 

Think of it like an online version of an Assisting Program. With many salons phasing out this integral part of the learning process, and we're here to fill in that gap.
